PEEK, a linear, semi-crystalline aromatic polymer, is considered the highest performing thermoplastic material due to its ability to withstand extreme temperatures, high pressure and caustic fluids.
Daburn’s SH740 PEEK heat shrink tubing provides a “shrink to fit” layer of protection for sensitive or critical components. When shrunk onto components, it forms an impenetrable “second skin” that is impervious to contaminants, preserving the integrity and performance of whatever is inside. PEEK’s inherent purity and lubricity make it an excellent choice for applications such as wire coating on medical devices, electronics, wire & cable insulation splice aid, telecom hardware, and oil exploration equipment.
As an alternative to traditional fluoropolymer protective coatings like Teflon® or Kapton® tape, it is ideally suited for challenging environments where abrasion, intense pressure, chemicals, water, or dielectric interference pose a threat to wires and electrical components.

Translucent recovery shrink temperature: 572°F (300°C) - 644°F (340°C)
Opaque recovery shrink temperature: 680°F (360°C) - 725°F (385°C)
PEEK melts at 650° F/343° C. PEEK heat shrink recovery occurs at very near the same temperature. Therefore there is a very fine line between achieving full recovery and melting the product. Equally important in this recovery application is the coating (PEEK, Kapton®, and etc.) already surrounding an insulated conductive wire that the PEEK heat shrink is being applied over.
When using a heat gun to recover shrink sleeving of any kind, it is important that your technique deliver gradually increasing and evenly distributed heat to the location where recovery is desired. The challenge of this process is to fully recover the sleeving so that it bonds with, but does not damage the coating (PEEK, Kapton®, and etc.) already on the wire underneath.
