Why Use PTFE Wire?

PTFE Wire

PTFE is more commonly known as Teflon, the brand name used by DuPont. Although famous for its low friction properties, there are many other applications for this material besides non-stick surfacing. It has excellent dielectric properties, making PTFE wire the logical choice for circuitry that is subjected to microwave frequencies. At Daburn, we carry many PFTE options. You will find subminiature wire using authentic PTFE coating as well as a variety of commercial and mil-spec offerings. However, there are times that a pre-jacketed wire is not the best solution.

In these cases, you will also find a selection of ultra-thin wall PFTE tubing that can be used to add the protection of PFTE exactly where you need it. For added versatility, PFTE heat shrinkable tubing is also available. Two of our most popular options are #SH620, PTFE ultra thin heat shrink and 4:1 PTFE tubing, #SH421. The 4:1 tubing allows you to extend the benefits of PFTE shielding to wiring that requires more shrink than the standard. In addition to PFTE products, Daburn carries retractile cord and many other specialty wire and cable products. We also carry fasteners and other hardware.
