Railway DC-DC Converter Series Features Versatility 
and Extremely Wide Input Ranges

Dover, NJ – October 23, 2018 – Polytron Devices has introduced the OFQC Series of single-output 60-watt DC-DC converters suitable for a broad range of railway applications, including lighting, information, driving, braking and door systems.

Two significant features make OFQC Series DC-DC converters highly versatile:

• Extremely wide input ranges of 9-75V and 14-160V DC. Each range covers output voltages of 5, 12, 15, 24, 28, 48 or 53V DC so the DC-DC converters can be designed into many railway circuits worldwide.
• EN50155 certification. This certification indicates they can withstand railway environments subject to shock, vibration, temperature and humidity extremes as well as exhibit electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) among electronic systems. Additional features include efficiencies up to 92 percent and isolation voltages up to 3000V AC.

The quarter-brick units support thermal management via a plastic case that includes an aluminum base plate with -40°C to +105°C operating temperature range. Heat sink options are also available. Additional pertinent features include built-in protection against over-temperature, overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage and short circuits.
