“Control Panel System-Request for Proposal"
The SICO VFD-Type, Constant Pressure Water Booster system is based on years of hands-on experience, the latest technology, and customer recommendations.
Designed To:
- Control two or more pump motors to maintain the water pressure at a given system pressure set point.
The controller uses a solid-state pressure transducer to control the operation (start, stop and speed) of the pump motors. On multiple pump installations, the pumps may be equal in size (horsepower) or may be different sizes.
The most common systems are duplex systems with equal pumps and triplex systems with one small and two larger motors, where the larger motors are topically of the same size, or three equal motors.
In the units where one pump is smaller than the others, the smallest pump is running continuously.
- Detects Pump or VFD failure
If one of the pumps (and/or VFD) failed or is removed for service, the system will automatically recognize that condition and will switch to the next available pump to provide continuous automatic operation.
The system will generate visual and audio alarm indication. (Alarm Message on HMI)
SICO has developed an innovative VFD algorithm which makes it very easy to setup a VFD station. The standard application uses one 4-20mA control or 0-10 Vdc loop through each drive. The SICO algorithm then provides a smooth power curve as demand is increased and decreased regardless of how many pumps come on- line.
VFD Water Booster Advantages:
- Decrease power consumption.
- More accurately follow the building load profile, applying only as much energy as required for any condition.
- Use of PID (proportional -integral -derivative) loop function for VFD speed regulation allows a more accurate means of pressure control.
- Elimination of the pump PRV’s (pressure regulated valves) which cannot control rapid system changes and sometimes require opening or closing speed controls or both.
- The hydraulic loads contribute significantly to premature bearing failure due to heat and stress. A variable speed system significantly reduces the bearing radial loads since pump reduces speed as it approaches shut-off point
VFD Water Booster System Consists of:
- Pumps
- Control Valves
- Discharge header pressure gauge
- Suction Header compound Gauge
- System Controller
